I have known Debbie Sherman on a professional basis for many years. She started out as our pet sitter several yrs. ago while living in York County and remained our pet sitter until her move to Perry County 2 yrs. ago. Debbie is a very responsible individual who takes extensive notes and requires a personal meet & greet to ensure she understands your animal and any special requirements or needs you have. Upon our return from any trip, she always had us call when we returned to ensure we arrived home on a timely basis so she knew that our animals were being taken care of. She also took on the responsibility to perform rehabilitation exercises on her pet sitting visits after one of our dogs had surgery and we were away for part of their recovery. Debbie has gotten to know our dogs & cats & knows when something may not seem right & always brings it to our attention. She leaves notes after every visit & our pets never seem to miss us while we are away.
After finding out that Debbie also taught dog classes at a local training center, we signed up two of our dogs for one of her classes. She is an outstanding teacher who has a great eye for detail and is very patient with all the animals and their owners!! We learned how to engage our dogs and how to correct unwanted behaviors. She is always anxious to share her knowledge & help someone improve their relationship with their animal.
Since Debbie's move to Perry County, we have had to use other pet sitters and trainers, but she will always remain our favorite pet sitter and dog trainer and we miss her greatly.

I was very pleased with Positively K-9 & More. Initially I needed help with watching my 10 year old Yellow Lab until I got home from a late night class. After 3 weeks or so I added a puppy to the mix! Debbie worked with the puppy briefly and a I saw tremendous results in such a short period of time! I enjoyed the report cards on the boys which kept me informed of how they did those evenings she visited them. I feel comfortable and confident in Debbie and Positively K-9 and More that I would recommend her services to everyone.

"Toby"
Such a better idea than making your pet stay at a kennel. Less stressfull on both you and your loved, furry one.
Debbie is professional and leaves me a 'report card' on Toby with each visit.
It can be hard on pets when their people are away. But the proof is evident in Toby's behavior. When we return, although she is always glad to see us, she acts rested, happy and healthy. We're very glad we can entrust her care to Debbie.

Thanks again for taking such good care of our pets. It's so comforting to know that we can go away worry free and they will be safe in your hands!

"Maya"
I can honestly say, I don't know what we would've done without Debbie when Santa brought us Maya 2 yrs ago. Maya chewed everything in sight and jumped on people before they could even get out of their cars! Debbie and Maya bonded instantly and Debbie showed us all how to adjust to our new life with Maya.
Debbie has also been kind enough to watch Maya while we are on vacation. We completely trust Debbie to take excellent care of Maya. We know she will treat Maya like one of her own. We would highly recommend Debbie for any of your Pet needs.

"LIly Pup"
After much thoughtful consideration, the Burns family decided they wanted to find a sister for their current dog Maya. After many hours of lurking on the Perry County Animal Rescue Website they saw a young pup who at the time was named "Ivy". They just had to meet her thinking she was just the one that they had been waiting for to join their family. There was no doubt after their meet & greet that "Ivy" (now known as "Lily Pup") was going to be the perfect canine sister to Maya and companion for Mallory and Logan Burns.
"Hank"
I met Debbie at Little Buffalo one evening while I was taking a walk. I instantly new that se had a very special quality that not many people have; her spirit was filled with love & compassion for animals. As we talked, I found out she was a pet sitter & a trainer. I can truly say I was at the right place at the right moment, or I would never have never met her. I invited her to my home to meet our dog Hank. Instant connection between them, & I knew as I watched her, she would be my choice for a sitter. I contacted Debbie for a few day sittings. I could immediately tell when I got home that Hank was happy, so when we planned our vacation, I contacted Debbie. We were gone for 11 days. We asked Debbie to visit 3 times a day. She was great. She didn't just come for 10 or 15 minutes, she stayed & played & even showed Hank a few new tricks. She made sure he ate his food & gave him his medication as instructed & made sure he did his business before she left. She even cleaned up the yard. I really didn't even feel like I had to call & check in on Hank , although I did once, just to make sure she didn't have any unanswered questions. We were delayed coming home, & were a bit worried about wether she would have time in her schedule to be there an extra day. Debbie already knew the situation (Hurricane Irene) & made plans to stay the extra day or days without us even asking. We were having such a problem getting home & the stress was a little overwhelming, but back home, Debbie had everything under control. What a huge relief that we didn't have to worry about Hank. Debbie was committed to stay as long as we needed her. When we returned, Debbie had written Daily activity sheets for our review, & it was really fun reading her comments. Wow, she is amazing! As for Hank, when we finally got home, he slowly came to greet us, saw us, turned and went & lay down. I think he was expecting someone else to walk in the door!! I would highly recommend Debbie as a pet sitter. Hank actually was a bit upset for a few days after we returned & I could tell he missed her being there. Debbie went above & beyond any sitter we ever had. We will always call her when we need a sitter. She is completely trustworthy & dependable; She has a key to our house, and is welcome anytime, even if we are not home. I think of her as part of our family. Hank loves her too. It is amazing how I can tell if Hank likes someone or not. His face tells it all.

RIP "Jennie" 8-23-12
Your family and I miss you.
Debbie Sherman is "positively" the best pet sitter we have ever used. After we made the initial inquiry call, she suggested a meeting to get acquainted with Jennie, our 14 year old Harrier hound and Berlin, our 20 yr. old American Short hair kitty, who has since passed away. We liked what we heard and received nothing but positive, pet loving energy from Debbie. She took the extra time to find out specific information regarding our elderly pets' personalities, individual habits, likes and dislikes, and medical/nutritional considerations. Currently, Jennie is pushing 17 and with her arthritis, despite meds, has become much less mobile. She will often take quite a bit of time as she negotiates the one step going in and out the front door. We have nothing but confidence that Debbie treats Jennie with the love and patience her situation requires. Debbie is personable, punctual, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and provides excellent follow-up as indicated in the other testimonials. We are totally satisfied.

"Pancake has crossed over the rainbow bridge and is dearly missed by his family members and me too. I miss our playtime with the fishing rod & fish toy. Pancake had tons of personality and always made me smile. I will miss seeing that beautiful face looking out the window while sitting on the sill watching Jakey and Tucker potty & play in the back yard. So many fond memories, our furry friends are never forgotten and always hold a special peice of our heart when they go before us".

"Danni"
I met Debbie Sherman about four years ago. She was assisting in an agility training class and I have a very energetic (sometimes over the top) Black Lab named Danni. I've been training and competing with my dogs for about 25 yrs. in Agility & Obedience and knew that Danni was going to be quite a challenge. Debbie's calm and positive approach in helping me deal with Danni at the early stages of training were instrumental in the success that I'm having with Danni today. We are taking Debbie's Foundation Agility class with Jenna, my young Yellow Lab, and I know that I'll have the same success with her.

I am extremely particular about leaving my dogs with other people and would not ever consider putting them in a kennel. I know without a doubt that I can leave them with Debbie and not worry at all about the quality of care that she gives to them. I don't like having to leave them, but when I do it is nice to know that they have a good, safe place to stay.

Debbie Sherman has taken care of my dog Keelie when we have been on vacation. She addressed all my questions and made me feel like I could leave and go on vacation without a worry. Deb provided Keelie with excellent care, opportunities for exercise and helped me with some training issues. Keelie was treated like a member of her family!! I highly recommend her for any kind of pet needs you may have!

We first met Debbie during a dog obedience class after we adopted a rescued beagle who needed to learn the finer points of living inside with humans! Debbie is very good with animals and has a special knack for relating to them. She is loving, yet firm. My husband and I occasionally travel and we needed a person who we could trust to take care of our furry friends (2 rescued dogs an 1 cat). We knew that we could trust Deb to treat the dogs right and depend on her to take care of them while we are away. She has common sense and knows how to respond in case of unusual situations. Her paperwork is quite extensive so that she knows who to get in touch with if there is a problem. She always lets us know how the animals were while we were gone and to point out anything unusual. She knows how important it is to us that the dogs get their exercise. As our pet sitter, Deb also takes care of other household necessitites such as bringing in our mail. We feel very comfortable choosing Debbie as our pet sitter.

Jethro
I was referred to Debbie after adopting Jethro from the Perry County Animal Rescue. I was thrilled that she was able to come to my home for our training sessions. During our first session, Debbie was able to show me several techniques; including how to stop break Jethro of the habit of jumping up on people as well as my kitchen counters and tables. She also advised me on how to control him on his leash during our walks. After just one meeting, Debbie showed me how much Jethro was willing and able to learn and how quickly he could adapt to his new home. In between our visits, Debbie counseled me by phone and by email, which was a tremendous help. She sensed I was struggling with some of Jethro's behavioral issues, but with her encouragement, I was able to work through them and see the loving & playful Basset Hound I adopted. I can never Thank Debbie enough for her wisdom, guidance and expertise in helping me train Jethro. She helped set us up for success and showed me how to train my dog with love and encouragement.

"Sasha"
Sasha came to us from the Perry County Animal Rescue a year ago. We were going to foster her but within a week of her being in our home I knew I could never part with her. She is an amazing dog...silly, loving, friendly, very smart, high energy, intense, and curious. She is however, lacking some manners, which is why I contacted Debbie. Debbie came to our home and I knew immediately that she and I shared a love for dogs and a passion for helping them. She understood Sasha and provided me with input about her behavior and how to deal with her in a positive manner. She understood the relationship between Sasha and me and made it even stronger. Debbie is very knowledgeable. insightful, positive and encouraging. She provides helpful feedback to help you reach your behavior goals with your dog. Sasha is learning manners and she loves to train! Thank you Debbie for all your help!!!

LeeAnn and I took a chance using your services and we are more then pleased with your handling of Summer and of us. We didn't realize until we started that people needed to be trained too.
I don't think we could have been any luckier then to have you as our trainer. You use kindness, treats and repitition to train. Just wish LeeAnn and I were so easy to train as Summer.

"Maverick"
We are so lucky to have found Debbie and Positive(ly) K-9 & More upon moving
to the Newport area! When we moved to the area, we lost our former pet care
and were so worried about finding someone that we trusted with our "kids".
Fortunately, we found Debbie, and we couldn't be happier with the services she
provides!........
"Lakota"
........Debbie is fantastic-she is reliable, trustworthy, and goes above and beyond all
of our expectations. We really appreciated the time she took to get to know us and our dogs prior to doing business with us! It showed us how committed she was to her job, and how much she truly cared about our pets! We never worry when Debbie is here, and Maverick and Lakota absolutely adore her!
We give Debbie the highest recommendation possible. She's there for us whenever we need her, even for last minute requests. We don't know what we'd do without her and her fabulous services!

"Ziva"
We lost our first Border Collie in September of 2011. Chew was 11 yrs. old and would have turned 12 on Dec. 24, 2011. He was such a great dog and good and loyal friend to me. I knew that Border Collies were high maintenance. But I didn't know that they could be so different, so when we got Ziva...needless to say I was SHOCKED. The Perry County Rescue people told me about Deb and I am glad we have taken Ziva there. Deb teaches us how to handle our dogs and Ziva is doing truly great. I have learned that there are truly better ways in training your dog and teaching them confidence. I like that.

It had been a while since Debbie had visited us, but we recognized her
right away! We were so glad to see her. She fed us and took plenty of
time to pat and talk to us. We got treats and fresh water, belly rubs and
comfy massage and felt better about our people being gone. We hope
she comes again soon!

"Buddy"
We first had Debbie as a pet sitter about a year ago.
We were so pleased with the care that she had given
our dog, Buddy. We have used Debbie ever since then.
It is so comforting to go away and know that Buddy is
in good hands. He is use to going for a walk everyday
and Debbie makes every effort to keep everthing routine.
I enjoy reading the "report cards" that Debbie leaves.
We can go away and know that Buddy is enjoying his time
just as much as we are enjoying ours.
